Ben Harper- Black Rain
Ben Harper is someone I’ve seen perform on various talk shows for a while but have never listened to one of his albums. This is odd, because I really enjoyed his performances every time I’ve seen him. I recently picked up his 2006 double disc album Both Sides of the Gun. This album is a great buy. If you are not aware of Ben Harper and his style, it’s hard to explain. His albums combine folk, rock, blues, gospel, and reggae. I was disappointed to not find his latest album, Both Sides…, on iTunes. They have other albums by him, but not the latest. So, I did the old fashioned thing and bought the CD and ripped it to my computer and laptop and also put it on my mp3 player. I don’t think I’ve listened to much of anything else lately besides Harper. For the song of the week this week I chose his song about New Orleans and the Hurricane Katrina aftermath entitled “Black Rain.” Enjoy. Check out his official website here.
